The first 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card awarded a Pristine 10 grade by Beckett Grading Services ended its run on eBay Thursday night. The bidding was not for the faint of heart–or light of wallet.
The card closed at $82,000, although the sale could not be immediately confirmed.
The card, featured in one of Beckett’s magazines in the summer of 2006, became the third most-watched item on all of eBay, generating a total of 87 bids from 36 bidders.
Listed by CJ Sportscards, a southern California-based shop, the Jordan card is one of only two to have been graded at the 10 level by Beckett. The centering, edges and corners drew subgrades of 10 with the surface receiving a 9.5.
