The jersey worn by Joe Montana in Notre Dame’s Cotton Bowl win over Texas cementing the Irish as 1977 national champions sold for $122,388 late Wednesday night at Goldin Auctions in the second part of an auction of hundreds of items from the Hall of Famer’s personal collection.
Montana had been third on the Irish depth chart at the start of the year, but led Notre Dame to nine straight wins, culminated by the 38-10 win over previously unbeaten Texas in the Jan. 2, 1978 game. The white mesh jersey made by Champion drew 44 bids.
A jersey Montana wore during the final 49ers victory of his career on Jan. 9, 1993, sold for $43,200. Montana watched from the sidelines that day as Steve Young led the Niners to a 20-13 win over Washington at Candlestick Park. Another, undated jersey from Montana’s 49ers career, a lot that included a pair of his socks, went for $47,406. A 1980s helmet netted $36,000.
Two of his Super Bowl MVP awards–one from XVI and the other from XIX, sold for $16,800 and $21,600 combined.

An auction of memorabilia from LeBron James’ milestone moments and other games this season wrapped up Thursday night at NBA Auctions with the $155,020 sale of his warmup jacket worn on the night when he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-tiime scoring leader.
The shooting shirt he wore prior to the game netted a whopping $105,252 while his warmup pants sold for $89,020.
The auction also includes several pieces from the Jan. 15 game against the Philadelphia 76ers in which James joined Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to reach 38,000 career points. The milestone ball sold for $11,520 net sold for $6,540.
Three game-worn jerseys worn in single games from earlier this season combined to sell for over $171,000.
Proceeds benefit the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation.

Goal and game pucks from the Seattle Kraken’s first two home playoff games in franchise history are being offered by MeiGray, which has a partnership with the team.
Thirty-five pucks from Games 3 and 4 of their opening round series against the Colorado Avalanche are in the auction, including the first career playoff goal for 20-year-old Kraken star Matty Beniers.
Seattle knocked out the defending Stanley Cup champs in seven games.
Bidding for each puck started at $20 and the auction runs through May 25.
