He was part of a remarkable 2017 class of newly drafted running backs but as the months and weeks progress, he appears to be the best of the lot. For those who’ve decided to collect him or put a few of them away, most Christian McCaffrey rookie cards remain budget friendly.
A dual threat blend of power, speed and moves, the Stanford product set the NFL record for yards from scrimmage in a single season in 2019, gaining 2,392, the third most in NFL history.
McCaffrey totaled 1,387 rushing yards and 1,005 receiving yards in 2019, joining Roger Craig (1985) and Marshall Faulk (1999) as the only players with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.
Tough to bring down? You be the judge…

Some believe McCaffrey is now the best all-around running back in the NFL…and he’s getting better. However, McCaffrey’s rookie cards haven’t exactly exploded–yet. Sure, there have been a few big ticket sales (his 2017 Impeccable Dual Shield autograph sold recently for $5,500), but fewer than 30 of them–even high end autographs–have topped $1,000 in the first couple of years of his career.
While prices have been trending slightly upward in recent weeks, a Flawless autograph numbered to 25 and graded 9.5 by BGS recently sold for $199.99. Even traditionally popular issues like Contenders Rookie Ticket autos and National Treasures autos can still be found at decent prices. In fact, numerous McCaffrey autographs from several other products can still be found for well under $100–and not all are on stickers.
McCaffrey’s cheapest rookie autographs, of course, are those on stickers and inside NFL Draft focused products and there are plenty of those.
Among the non-autographed rookie cards, Prizm (and its many parallels) has been a popular target of buyers. PSA 10 examples of McCaffrey’s Silver Prizm are currently selling for relatively modest prices with lower serial numbered color variations starting to show some growth.
The son of former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, Christian is still a very young player despite already having a significant amount of NFL experience under his belt. Health, of course, is always a key factor in determining a player’s long-term value but his unique skill set and early productivity are good signs.
