The first jersey worn by Buffalo Sabres’ rookie phenom Jack Eichel has sold for $39,112. The auction for the size 56 blue home jersey, which includes a patch to commemorate his first NHL game affixed to the inside, closed Monday night with 88 bids having been entered.
There was no word on the identity of the top bidder.
As we reported last week, the Sabres offered the jersey worn by the teen phenom as part of an auction of game-worn gear from the early stages of the 2015-16 season. Eichel wore it from October 8 through November 25.
Proceeds from the auction were to benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation.

In October, the first two Connor McDavid jerseys made available to the public sold for $60,000 combined in an auction conducted through MeiGray and the NHL.
So far this season, the 19-year-old from Boston University has 13 goals and 14 assists through 42 games. He was chosen with the second overall pick in last year’s draft, behind McDavid.
