The first playoff jersey worn by one of the NBA’s brightest young stars attracted a lot of attention over the last couple of weeks. The curtain fell on the two-week auction late Thursday night with a winning bid of $21,247 at NBA Auctions.
Morant wore it during the Memphis Grizzlies’ 112-109 Western Conference First Round, Game 1 victory over the Utah Jazz on May 23 in Salt Lake City. He played 35 minutes and registered 26 points.
In all 41 bids were entered before the auction closed.
Jerseys worn by several other big name stars during the first round series also went off the board. One donned by MVP Nikola Jokic during a stretch of games in which he recorded five triple-doubles netted $16,070.
Jokic wore the jersey in 13 regular season games between January and April of this year and once again in Game 1 of the Nuggets’ opening round playoff series against the Portland Trailblazers.
Jokic had 16 triple-doubles in all this season and has recorded 57 in his career.
A white Brooklyn Nets gamer worn by Kevin Durant during a first round, Game 3 loss to the Boston Celtics on May 28 in Boston sold for $15,305.
Durant registered 39 points with 9 rebounds and four steals in the contest. Teammate James Harden’s jersey from the same game—one in which he recorded a 41-point double-double—went for $11,000.
