Millions of dollars worth of vintage baseball memorabilia goes on the block next month when Christie’s hosts “The Golden Age of Baseball” memorabilia auction. Now, select items from a pair of catalogs being distributed to bidders is out on tour.
The private collection of artifacts includes over 250 items plus another catalog with rare, original baseball photographs.
Some of the items with close ties to Chicago are on display inside the JW Marriott Hotel lobby in downtown Chicago through Wednesday, September 28.
The Cubs are the team generating excitement in northern Illinois this fall but a couple of six-figure pieces relating to a White Sox legend are the featured attractions.

Other items will be on display October 10-13 at the Jules Maeght Gallery in San Francisco. There will also be a preview event with all items from the auction on display at Christie’s home base on Rockefeller Plaza in the days leading up to the auction, which is slated for October 19.
