Stacks of vintage cards including Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, autographs from long ago Hall of Famers and more items from the collection of Johnny Bench headline the newly launched January 2021 Premier Live Internet catalog from Hunt Auctions.
Over 500 lots of vintage and modern baseball and basketball memorabilia and cards are on the block, culminating with a live online closing session on Saturday, Jan 9 beginning at noon Eastern time.
Among the highlights is Part II of The Texan Collection, a 40-year private collection of vintage cards that spans dozens of the hobby’s most popular sets. Included in the current auction are several 19th century baseball cards, a rare 1912 S81 Large Silk featuring Ty Cobb graded SGC 2, a 1933 Goudey Nap Lajoie graded PSA 5 (current bid over $30,000), multiple Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Goudey cards including two 1933 Ruths rated EX 5 by SGC, a collection of 79 1909 T204 Ramly cards and two Jackie Robinson rookie cards.
Over 20 items consigned by Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench are in the auction including game-worn equipment, autographed baseballs, his personal sets of golf clubs and other memorabilia.
The auction also includes signed baseballs from Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker and other greats as well as Tony Gwynn’s 1989 Silver Bat for winning the National League batting title.
