He may not go down as the best receiver of all time as he once indicated was his desire but during his prime, there was no one better. As he walks away from the NFL for good, it seems appropriate to check in on the hottest Calvin Johnson rookie cards on eBay.
Like most players of his era, Johnson has dozens of different rookie cards but his best include autographed and autographed relic cards. Those numbered to less than 100 are often the most valuable. Cards like the 2007 Topps Triple Threads Autographed Jersey # to 99; the Playoff National Treasures Autographed Jersey # to 99, the Donruss Threads and Gridiron Gear, both numberd to 100, the Leaf Limited Autographed 
Jersey #to 99 and the Upper Deck Ultimate Collection # to 99 are among the higher end brands that generally bring sizable prices.
Other Calvin Johnson cards shouldn’t be dismissed, though. Rookie cards alone don’t make the list of hottest cards, a list based on the number of eBay users who are watching them.
Johnson’s 329-yard receiving game against the Cowboys in 2013 was second only to the 336-yard day Flipper Anderson turned in for the Rams back in a 1989 overtime contest against the Saints. Megatron is just the fifth player in history to record over 300 yards.
There’s no doubt Johnson was one of the most feared of all-time and while he didn’t challenge Jerry Rice’s 22,894 career yardage mark, it’s safe to say he’ll be a strong Hall of Fame candidate.
