The Texas Longhorns silhouette that sat atop the scoreboard at the stadium in Austin is going to a new home.
A well-financed buyer nailed down a little piece of Texas Longhorns history last week by paying $11,100 for a set of two original burnt-orange Longhorns logo lights that sat atop the north end zone scoreboard for nearly 20 years.
"The Horns on the north end zone scoreboard came down when the scoreboard was dismantled recently to make room for stadium renovations and expansion, but were salvaged intact and in good condition," according to a UT press release.
The eBay auction for the 400-pound behemoth piece of neon memorabilia ended after 92 bids were entered. Pick-up only. Duh.
So…just exactly what do you DO with an 8-foot, 8-inch set of Longhorn lights?
