As the year winds down, we’re taking a look at the top-selling sports cards and memorabilia sold through major auction companies in 2018.
Just when you were about to say “it’s been a while since we’ve seen a T206 Wagner come up for auction” Memory Lane brought one to the table in one of the hobby’s final major catalog auctions of 2018. It turned out to be a record-setter.
Heavy (and well documented) restoration didn’t deter bidders for the card, which sold for $420,000 early Sunday, making it one of the hobby’s most expensive items in 2018. The Southern California-based auction company brought some other big ticket cards to the block this year–and also a trove of historic papers. Below is a list of their top 10 auction lots for 2018.
