There are bigger booths and booths with more inventory, but you’d be hard pressed to find a booth that is doing more learning and has traveled further to Chicago than Hobby Korea (booth 148).
It’s manned by one person, Kim Sunghoon, who says he was sent my his boss to not only exhibit and make contacts, but also to learn.
Sunghoon hopped on a plane on Sunday and made the 6,000+ mile trek to Chicago to get a taste of a big time American hobby event, make some contacts and increase his understanding of the industry.

“It’s a bit of working vacation for me,” admitted Sunghoon. “This is big, but the sports card hobby in Korea is big and getting bigger.”
Sunghoon says they are a South Korean distributor of Topps and Upper Deck and a supplier of Panini across different sports in South Korea. He says baseball in Korea is popular, but so is soccer and other sports can make their mark as well.
That is why he is spending time walking around early each day and learning.
“It’s so big, I hope to see it all.”

Sunghoon also is excited about the possibility of card shows in Seoul and other cities in South Korea.
“I’m seeing this in person and it’s possible for South Korea.”
