There are no auction bargains when the item says "1952 Topps Mantle". Another mid-grade example brings a nice price to start the week…but it’s the same card that just sold for almost the exact same price last month.
It continues to be one of the most sought-after cards of the pre-WW II era and even though it’s not necessarily "rare", the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card continues to be a magnet for collectors.
Several examples have sold this summer, in a wide variety of grades, but the mid-grade copies have been fetching very good prices including one sold via eBay Monday night.
The nice-looking PSA 5 (EX) drew 37 bids and a final price of $15,300.
That’s nearly equal to one that sold in late August for $15,350…and with good reason. It’s the same card. The buyer apparently was hoping to turn a quick profit but didn’t quite wait long enough.
Neither matched the PSA 5 that was sold via Memory Lane’s summer auction for $20,374.
