A 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson graded PSA 10 sold for a record-shattering $30,000 in Mile High Card Company’s Extra Innings Auction early Friday morning. The price was nearly three times the previous record price paid for the first card of the Hall of Fame outfielder. The card is one of just 13 graded at that level by PSA.
Other sales included a 1976 Topps #148 Walter Payton RC PSA 10 that also established a new mark for the PSA grade at $14,700, a 1957 Topps Paul Hornung rookie card graded PSA 9, which brought $19,738, a 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan RC PSA 10, sold for a near-record $14,800, a 1981 Topps Joe Montana PSA 10 at $12,593, a 1986 Topps #161 Jerry Rice RC PSA 10 at just over $11,500 and Tony Dorsett’s 1978 Topps #315 RC PSA 10, which set a new record high at just over $6,700.
A rare 1952 Topps unopened pack, graded PSA 5, sold for $11,065.
