The hand-written letter that launched Hank Aaron’s professional baseball career wound up in the hands of one of the country’s top collectors.
Jeffrey Gitomer went through some rocky times before creating a hugely successful sales training business.
He drew his inspiration from the strength Hank Aaron exhibited on his way to the Major Leagues as a young Negro Leagues player–and later when Aaron chased Babe Ruth’s hallowed home run record.
Gitomer is also a big-time sports memorabilia collector.
So when Hunt Auctions offered a one-of-a-kind letter written by a certain 17 year-old Mobile, Alabama high school student to the owner of the Indianapolis Clowns, he jumped into the mix.
And when guys like Gitomer get involved, it’s not easy to outbid them.
