The “Hand of God” ball is not changing hands.
For the second time in a few months, the controversial ball Diego Maradona knocked into the net at the 1986 World Cup to help Argentina beat England didn’t meet its seven-figure reserve price.
Goldin Auctions did sell a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Gold Refractor #111 LeBron James Rookie Card (#02/50) graded PSA 10 for $900,000.
Also sold: the jersey from the Dec. 5 game this season in which Tom Brady passed Peyton Manning for the most all-time fourth quarter comeback wins with 44. It netted $324,000.

His record breaking jersey from earlier this week is worth somewhere between 50 cents and $1 billion, depending on who you talk to, but we do know what LeBron James’ 2022 Christmas Day jersey is worth because it sold for $76,799 Thursday night at NBA Auctions.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s holiday duds also crossed the block for quite a bit less. Fun fact: Giannis ranks among the top 8 in league history for points scored at this stage of his career (LeBron is #1).

PSA and livestream shopping platform Whatnot have expanded their partnership to offer authentication and grading services for Funko Pop! Figures.
Collectors who buy Pops! through Whatnot can now have them authenticated and graded by PSA before taking shipment. PSA began grading the figures last year.
“The ability to have the ever increasing amount of fake Pops!, sticker swaps, and inconsistent subjective advertised condition of Funko Pops! eliminated through PSA’s authentication and grading service is the future of the hobby,” remarked Darius DiMartino, the owner of Toy Cabal, a national collectibles retailer.
In 2022, PSA and Whatnot began collaborating on authentication and grading services for trading cards bought on the live shopping platform.
And Pop! goes the end of this News & Notes column.
