Another Alex Gordon error? It’s true. The Omaha Royals were all set to hand out some nifty bobbleheads of the hot prospect but it was missing something.
Saturday night was Alex Gordon bobblehead night with the Triple A Omaha Royals. One of the top promotions of the year for the Kansas City Royals’ top farm team didn’t go off quite as planned.
When employees opened the dozens of cases they had ordered, they found name on the bobbleheads’ bases had all been spelled “Alex Gordn” by the manufacturer.
It was too late to call it off so the first 1,500 fans through the gates at Rosenblatt Stadium got their Gordon…and a little plastic "o" to paste on.
“Why not have a little fun with it?” Martie Cordaro, the Royals’ assistant general manager for business development told the Lincoln Journal-Star.
Fans will also receive a voucher for a corrected doll to be distributed after July 12.
Last year, as card collectors know, Topps released a Gordon card by mistake to some areas of the country. The cards–and numerous manufacturing oddities that made it into packs– became hot commodities.
Gordon is a Lincoln, Nebraska native and the bobbleheads picture him in his high school uniform.
