Looking for stats on the back of some 2007-2008 Ultra Basketball cards could cause severe eye strain.
Upper Deck says it’s 2007-08 Fleer Ultra basketball card boxes are selling well but collectors are finding some of the cards to be..well..incomplete.
After final production analysis was completed on the product run, an error was discovered. It appears the Ultra Premieres, Lucky 13 and Legendary 13 subsets had versions produced with blank backs.
“Our production company produced a couple hundred sheets with blank backs on accident,” revealed Chris Kollmeyer, Product Manager for Basketball. “The sheets were cut and the cards began packing out. During one of our initial pack out checks the error cards were discovered and we had them pulled from the remainder of the run. We know a finite amount of each card in those sets made it to the market. Our Quality Control reports indicate these cards will represent less than one half of one percent of the total cards in the market.”
“This is the first error we have experienced like this in a long time, so we are not sure how the market will react to these cards,” shared Chris Carlin, Hobby Marketing Manager. “Luckily it seems to be very isolated and we are happy to replace these cards for customers who would prefer the corrected versions. If these cards end up carrying a premium, it is likely many collectors will not be willing to return them. We apologize for any confusion this may have created with collectors.”
Collectors who pull one of these rare blank back versions who wish to have them replaced can send them to the address below to receive a corrected card:
