One of the industry’s most active players is opening a new office and warehouse in suburban Chicago.
Dreams Retail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dreams, Inc., will relocate its operations from Niles to Northbrook, Illinois on Friday. The move will accommodate the exponential growth the company is continuing to experience.
Owner of FansEdge, , Mounted Memories and other sports memorabilia brands, Dreams Retail will move into a 207,000 sq. ft. facility that provides warehouse space that will triple the size of its current facility. The new location will serve as a distribution center for the company’s growing collection of 17 retail stores.
"We’ve grown so rapidly, added so much inventory, and project so much future demand that the additional space became absolutely vital to efficiently serving our customers," said Dreams Retail President and FansEdge founder Kevin Bates. The new facility will also serve as a distribution center for Dreams Retail brick & mortar retail store chains, FansEdge and Field of Dreams.
The building also includes nearly 56,000 square feet of office space.
Dreams opened a FansEdge location in the Westfield Fox Valley mall in Aurora that opened last month. The company’s other Chicago-area store is a Field of Dreams store in the Woodfield Mall that opened in 2002. Dreams has opened nine college and pro sports memorabilia stores since November 2006.
FansEdge is the 23rd fastest growing e-retailer among retail chains according to Internet Retailer’s 2008 Top 500 Guide, joining premier brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch Co., Circuit City, and J. Crew on that prestigious list.
"This move positions us for continued robust expansion in both the e-commerce and brick & mortar channels," said Bates. "And the building’s inviting office environment will also help us continue to attract the top talent we’ll need to remain an industry leader, as we grow."
