A Georgia sports card business has carved out a spot on a list of the fastest growing private companies in the United States.
Giant Sports Cards, which operates an online business and a retail store in Alpharetta, GA, ranks 93rd on the 2024 Inc. 5000.
The business publication’s annual ranking offers a data-driven look at the most successful independent businesses. Giant ranked number one in the retail sector and was third across all Georgia-based companies.
To be eligible for the Inc. 5000, a company must:
- be privately held, for profit, and independent (not a subsidiary or a division of another company)
- have been founded and generating revenue as of March 31, 2020
- have generated a minimum of $100,000 in revenue in 2020
- have generated a minimum of $2 million in revenue in 2023
Among this year’s top 5000 companies, the average median three-year revenue growth rate is 1,637 percent.
Microsoft, Meta, Chobani, Under Armour, Timberland, Oracle, Patagonia, and many other well-known brands gained their first national exposure through the list.
All 5000 companies on the 2024 list are featured on Inc.com and the top 500 appear in the new issue of Inc. magazine, available on newsstands beginning Tuesday, August 20.
Giant opened its retail store a year ago and owner Jon Butts told SC Daily it’s done well enough to where they see themselves as a retail company with an online footprint rather than the other way around.
“It’s an incredible honor to make the Inc 5000, and to be ranked in the top 100 companies on such a list is truly remarkable,” he stated. “It’s a testament to our team’s hard work and their unwavering commitment to deliver GOAT-level service to all our customers and provide them with an enjoyable collecting experience. We truly believe we’re in the early innings of modernizing and reshaping the collectibles industry and couldn’t be more excited about the future.”
It’s the second company Butts has led to a top 100 ranking in the prestigious list over the past decade. His prior venture, Muscle Up Marketing, landed on the Inc. 5000 list four years in a row from 2015-2018, including being ranked as high as #40 in 2015.
