Steve Garvey has pulled himself out of the lineup for the 2016 National Sports Collectors Convention due to what’s described as a “family medical emergency.” Slated to greet collectors and sign autographs during Wednesday’s ‘sneak peek’ in Atlantic City, the former National League ironman recently informed organizers he couldn’t make it. He’s been replaced by MLB alumni Roy White and Art Shamsky.

Visitors who purchase the VIP Experience get to attend the VIP Party and Sneak Peek as part of their package. The highlight of the VIP Party, hosted by Topps, is the free autograph session between 3 – 4 pm. NHL Hall of Famer and former Rangers great Eddie Giacomin, White, Shamsky and former Philadelphia Phillies closer “Wild Thing” Mitch Williams will appear.
The VIP Package provides entrance to all five days of the show, including the Wednesday VIP Party and Sneak Peek. VIP’s also receive an exclusive VIP Gift Package, 12 selected free autographs, one-half hour early admission each day, use of the VIP lounge and other benefits.
General Admission tickets are available for the Wednesday Sneak Peek which also provides an opportunity for free autographs from Giacomin, White, Shamsky and Williams.
The 37th National is returning to the 400,000 square-foot space at the Atlantic City Convention Center for the annual five-day event. It’s the show’s first visit to the Jersey Shore since 2003.
“We are extremely excited the 37th National Sports Collectors Convention is returning to Atlantic City,” said John Broggi, NSCC Executive Director. “The collector base in the area is one of the strongest in the nation and Atlantic City has really stepped up to support and promote our event.”
Dealers could begin setting up inside the convention center Monday. They’ll be joined by the leading autograph and game-used authentication companies, auction houses, licensed trading card manufacturers, collectible insurance companies and others.
Scheduled to sign autographs at The National’s TRISTAR Autograph Pavilion are approximately 130 high profile athletes including: Julius Erving, Mike Schmidt, Mariano Rivera, Hulk Hogan, Mike Tyson, Joe Namath, Mike Piazza, Johnny Bench, Joe Theismann, Martin Brodeur, Lawrence Taylor, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ric Flair, Donovan McNabb and Cal Ripken.
Twenty-six New York Giants players from the 1986 Super Bowl XXI team will be making an extremely rare public reunion and signing, Thursday, August 4. Scheduled athletes’ signings can be found by visiting http://www.tristarproductions.com/National/index.html.
The National’s VIP, general admission and autograph tickets can be purchased on-site, throughout the show, at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
