The 1986-87 Fleer basketball set still draws a crowd. One mint box grabbed a five-figure winning bid on Sunday.
Michael Jordan won’t be adding to his records anymore (at least we hope he’s not planning another comeback), but he remains a star attraction in the modern world of basketball cards.
There are probably at least a couple of MJ rookies in an unopened box of 1986-87 Fleer cards sold on eBay Sunday night. The box, part of a case opened by Global Authentication and graded by request, drew 23 bids and sold (we hope–the buyer’s feedback was perfect but minimal) for $10,100. If our calculator isn’t lying that’s $280.55 per pack.
Now…to open or not to open? PSA 10 Jordan rookies have generally been selling for $5,000-6000 while PSA 9 graded versions typically fetch around $1,000 whilie other Hall of Famers in high grade such as Charles Barkley and Karl Malone still still for respectable prices.
