New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso wore some special cleats on Monday night and they’ll be going up for auction.
The colorful shoes honored Answer The Call, an organization that provides financial assistance and support to the families of fallen first responders. Alonso donated $10,000 to the group and provided them with 50 tickets to the game against the Diamondbacks.
They’ll be sold through MLB Auctions to raise more money for the charity.

Classic Auctions has brought two notable player collections and some vintage hockey cards to its September auction.
Nine lots featuring items from the Frank Finnigan collection, including his 1926-27 Ottawa Senators and 1934 Ace Bailey benefit game auction jerseys are up for grabs.
From a more modern time frame is the El Belfour Collection, with his 1998-98 game-worn goalie mask and game jersey–both photo matched to Game 6 of the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals, in which the Dallas Stars captured a title.
Other auction highlights include the first items from the Scott Sjerven Game-Worn Jersey
Collection, which will unfold over several Classic sales. There are 82 lots in the September auction.
Card collectors will chase 297 lots, including:
- Wayne Gretzky 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee rookie card PSA 8
- Maurice Richard 1951-52 Parkhurst rookie card PSA 8
- 1910-11 Imperial Tobacco C56 Hockey Complete 36-card set including rookie cards of HOFers Cyclone Taylor, Newsy Lalonde, Art Ross (2), Patrick Bros, Paddy Moran, and Percy LeSueur

Among them is an NFL helmet with 31 autographs from NFL Rookies of the Year, including the late Franco Harris, Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen.
There’s an Upper Deck Authenticated Michael Jordan autographed 36″ x 18″ ‘We Have Lift Off’ photo numbered to 123, numerous game-worn, autographed and inscribed Yankees jerseys, cleats worn by Christian Yelich and Mookie Betts, a 2021-22 Joel Embiid game-worn jersey, a 2014 Topps Heritage Derek Jeter bat relic booklet and numerous NFL game-used footballs.
