You might have a sweater that no longer fits. Whitey Ford has an old jersey he’s no longer wearing.
He also had an old baseball signed by a guy from Boston whose name might ring a bell and a bunch of autographed photos that were taking up space at the family home in Florida.
The decision to sell was something Diana Munson also considered. Her husband’s life ended suddenly in the summer of ’79, but the former Yankee captain/catcher’s family will benefit from a myriad of very personal pieces she’s consigned to the All Star FanFest auction next week.
Why sell? That’s what the Wall Street Journal asked both parties.
The New York Times has a more personal touch from the Munson family.
