Scott Warren’s favorite pro football team? The Pottsville Maroons. He has their history–and maybe a dirty NFL secret– in his basement.
He’s a fan of the game, but chances are you don’t know NFL history quite like Pennsylvania collector Scott Warren. He has more than 1,000 pieces of football memorabilia from one of the game’s first pro franchises.
The Pottsville Maroons won the 1925 NFL championship, but were stripped of their title and expelled from the league for playing an exhibition game that violated the territorial rights of the Frankford Yellow Jackets.
Warren’s impressive collection is helping one writer prove the long-forgotten club’s complaint that the Chicago Cardinals didn’t deserve to steal the title away.
