A Port Richey, Florida man was charged with grand theft this week after sheriff’s investigators say he took another man’s money for an autographed baseball and didn’t deliver.

Kenneth Lane, 53, is accused of bilking Avraham Bash, a 24-year-old from nearby Sunny Isles Beach out of the $6,500 check written for a ball purported to be signed by former Cubs’ catcher Gabby Hartnett and legendary mobster Al Capone.
Pasco County deputies say Lane was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home.
Lane says it’s a big misunderstanding. It also wasn’t the first time Lane had sold an item to Bash.
TBO.com reports that Bash bought another Capone-signed item about this same time last year. He received that piece, but it didn’t turn out be such a great deal after all. Read the sad details here.
