The ninth and final installment of the David Hall T206 Collection auction is underway, with the last batch of more than 600 cards on the block.
Hall spent years accumulating over 5,000 cards, including some of the rarest, most obscure variations. He consigned the collection to Heritage Auctions in 2019 and fresh batches have been put up for sale in dedicated events since that time.
The eighth auction alone, which concluded last month, generated $778,412 in sales.
The current catalog leads off with three Ty Cobb cards including a Red Portrait with a rare factory overprint that’s graded PSA 4 (only one higher). It’s expected to sell for $12,000 or more. There’s also another Red Portrait graded PSA 3 and a Green Portrait graded PSA 2.
Others include a Piedmont 350 Cy Young “Bare Hand Shows” graded PSA 5, a 1909-11 T206 Lenox-Brown back Sam Crawford (With Bat) BVG VG+ 3.5, a Sweet Caporal 350-460/42OP Frank Chance (Portrait-Yellow) PSA 6.5, a Piedmont 350 Johnny Evers (Chicago On Shirt) PSA 7 and one of just two SGC graded Broad Leaf 350 Solly Hofman cards in existence.
There are other cards featuring Hall of Famers, including Johnny Evers, Addie Joss and Willie Keeler.
The auction is set to run through June 2.
