The home white jersey worn by Fernando Tatis in his MLB debut and four days later when he hit his first home run sold for $212,000 in the Fanatics Holiday Auction Monday night.
The white button down jersey was autographed and inscribed by the San Diego Padres young star, with notations verifying it as as the one he wore on March 28, 2019 when he played in his first game and collected his first major league hit.
He was also wearing it when he belted his first homer four days later. The inscriptions below his signature on the back read, “G/U MLB Debut 1st Hit 3/28/19” and “G/U 1st Career HR 4/1/19.”
It was the highest priced jersey sold thus far on Fanatics’ newly launched auction platform, but it wasn’t the highest priced item in the auction. One of the 320 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie cards graded PSA 10 took that honor at $300,000.
The auction included a variety of game-used memorabilia, awards, autographs and trading cards.
The Super Bowl XLVI ring presented to New York Giants receiver Mario Manningham was the third highest selling item at $80,000. The jersey Manningham wore in that victory over the New England Patriots, when he made a key catch on the sideline, was also offered in the auction and the autographed and inscribed white shirt sold for $13,450.
Other sales included:
- Ty Cobb autographed bat ($53,000)
- Run of Babe Ruth World Series home run tickets ($35,000)
- Autographed Kobe Bryant Adidas jersey with “Black Mamba” inscription ($23,250)
- Shohei Ohtani game-used, autographed jersey from 2020 home debut and other games ($21,100)
