FBI and US Postal Service agents continued to enjoy the National Sports Collectors Convention over the weekend.
A lot of dealers and customers didn’t know they were there but federal investigators made the floor of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center a little uneasy for those who knew their purpose.
The FBI and US Postal Service are apparently quite serious about some of the goings-on in the sports memorabilia hobby. While rumors of an investigation have been floating around for awhile, it’s now clear that the intent may be more than just a simple fact-finding mission.
High grade sports cards have been part of the focus of the agents’ visit to the National Sports Collectors Convention according to a story in Sunday’s New York Daily News.
The fact that subpoenas have reportedly been issued doesn’t mean anyone is guilty, but it does mean that more questions will be asked–and answers expected.
