A game-worn Brett Favre Minnesota Vikings jersey brought $16,000 for NFL Auctions…but it wasn’t the only big ticket item sold.
Brett Favre continues to defy time and his game-worn memorabilia is as hot as ever.
Favre’s #4 Vikings jersey was the premier item up for bid in the most recent NFL Auctions sale and the road jersey believed to have been worn in the game with the St. Louis Rams in October sold for $16,000.
NFL Auctions isn’t much on long descriptions, but there’s no question about the authenticity of the jersey, which bears the pink captain’s patch from the NFL’s breast cancer awareness program. The jersey drew 65 bids before closing late Monday night.
As popular as the Favre shirt was, another 2009 NFL gamer was also getting a lot of attention. Patriots fans and collectors flocked to the Randy Moss jersey offered in the same event. Drawing 52 bids, the #84 white model sold for $13,510.
A Maurice Jones-Drew captain’s patch jersey also worn in October sold for $5000 while a pair of signed, pink cleats worn by Ben Roethlisberger brought $4525 and a Phillip Rivers game-worn Chargers "AFL Legacy" jersey sold for $3550.
The Favre jersey’s price could be challenged by a jersey now up for auction. A blue, Peyton Manning autographed Colts jersey worn in the team’s victory over Seattle on October 4, will close next Monday night. As of early Wednesday, the jersey had a high bid of $4030. A LaDainian Tomlinson Chargers "Legacy" shirt had also topped $4,000.
