They’re not baseball cards per se, but there’s a new set that brings back memories of the oversized sets of the 1980s.
Fathead has released a new baseball product category called Fathead Tradeables. The 5×7 mini version of the popular wall decoration consists of 150 players and all 30 team logos designed to be bought, sold and traded like baseball cards.
The set includes most of the game’s big name stars including Albert Pujols, David Wright, Derek Jeter, Ryan Howard and Cole Hamels. The company has a special Tradeables website which includes pictures of each card.
"Major League Baseball has some of the most die-hard fans in sports and they are incredibly passionate about their teams and players," says Todd Lunsford, President, Fathead. "Which is why we are excited to produce MLB Tradeables at the beginning of the 2009 baseball season. Initial response is indicating that MLB Tradeables is a huge hit with fans of all ages."
Tradeables are packaged in packs of five at $12.99 per pack. There is also a contest code card which allows the buyer to play games for prizes on the company’s website.
Fathead says Tradeables are also made with premium vinyl and adhere by a patented low stick adhesive that won`t damage surfaces and are designed to be like mobile baseball cards.
The company produced a similar line for the NFL last year and the National Hockey League this season. Over 600 from the three sets issued thus far are currently for sale on eBay.
