More than two dozen members of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins will be among the guests when the 47th Chicago Sun-Times Sports Collectibles Show opens Friday in Chicago. Coach Don Shula, Bob Griese, Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick, Nick Buoniconti, Mercury Morris, Paul Warfield and the elusive Jake Scott are among those set to sign at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, November 22-24.
Prices for autographs vary, with some members of the ’72 team available for $29 each for basic items and Csonka and Scott at $99. Shula is $79. Larger items and inscriptions are additional. Most guests will appear for only one day.
The Dolphins remain the only team never to lose a game en route to a Super Bowl championship.
Other autograph signers during the weekend include Basketball Hall of Famers Bill Russell (signing all three days at a $175 minimum), Sam Jones, Julius Erving, Jerry West, John Havlicek, David Robinson and Dave Bing, Reds’ legends Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan and Tony Perez, several other Baseball Hall of Famers including Ryne Sandberg, Wade Boggs and Reggie Jackson and current Chicago Bears Matt Forte, Martellus Bennett and Brandon Marshall.
In addition, hundreds of dealer booths will be set up offering vintage and current era cards and memorabilia. The show is in the same location as the 2013 National Sports Collectors Convention.
Show hours are Friday 4:30-9 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. VIP packages with 30 minute early admission and ten free autographs from Dwight Gooden, Dan Hampton, Frank Viola, Graig Nettles and George Foster among other perks are available for $149.
Admission is $10 (kids 7 and under $5).
