Actress Rooney Mara has put together an eBay auction featured signed New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia to aid what may be the worst slum in the world.
It’s not hard for Rooney Mara to score autographs when she wants them.
She’s got the connections.
But Mara, daughter of Chris Mara, the Giants’ Vice President of Player Evaluation, is using her access to NFL superstars in order to help a special charity.
The actress with deep NFL bloodlines has put together an eBay charity auction runnning this week to help build an orphanage for the children of Kibera, a densely-packed slum in Kenya, where one-third of the children are without parents and one of six is HIV positive.
Among the Giants items up for bid are signed jerseys from Eli Manning, Brandon Jacobs, Amani Toomer, Justin Tuck and David Tyree; an autographed football signed by Manning and Tyree, who teamed up for maybe the greatest play in Super Bowl history, and several non-memorabilia items including tickets to games, VIP training camp and radio booth passes and a round of golf with Manning.
Mara is the great-granddaughter of Steelers’ founder Art Rooney and there is also a Ben Roethlisberger signed helmet and a Troy Polamalu autographed football.
