No disrespect to defense, but offensive stars generally drive the football card market and there’s no doubt who’s behind the wheel of the 2016 rookie bus. Searches for the best Ezekiel Elliott rookie cards on eBay are among the most popular in the website’s sports card category. 
The Ohio State product became the first player to reach 1,000 yards rushing in 2016 and became an easy choice for Rookie of the Year. He was the NFL’s top rusher with 1,631 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.
Destined for Greatness?
Considered by some to be the most complete rookie at the position since Adrian Peterson, Elliott was drafted fourth overall by the Cowboys after a three-year Ohio State career saw him finish as the school’s second all-time leading rusher.
Even before he took a snap, Elliott’s popularity with collectors, dealers and shop owners was quickly established. Now that he appears to be capable of living up to expectations, the interest should intensify. Having just turned 21 in July, Elliott could be setting the stage 
for a long career.
Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards
The Missouri native appeared in a multitude of different products during the 2016 NFL trading card year and has certified autographs in many of them. The earliest issues feature Elliott in his #15 Ohio State uniform while those released later show him wearing the Cowboys’ colors.
Elliott doesn’t typically sign his full name when signing for card companies. You’ll probably have to settle for an “EZE”…still a better alternative that some of the unrecognizable scribbles of other players.
As usual, low serial numbered cards—autographed and non-autographed—draw the biggest prices. Seventeen autographed Elliott cards sold for $3,000 or more on eBay between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017, topped by a Panini Spectra Dual Patch auto with signatures from Elliott and Dak Prescott which sold for $18,000. The top-selling individual Elliott card was an Immaculate Logo Patch NFL Shield, which netted $9,900 on January 1. Not all Elliott cards are that expensive, of course. The average price during that time frame was $53 but many base cards cost far less.
