ESPN Radio’s “Don’t Give Up’ ESPYS V Foundation Auction is winding down with dozens of pieces of autographed sports memorabilia and fan experiences up for grabs on eBay. The listings are part of the annual online and on-air public auction to raise money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Last year’s event raised $810,000 in net proceeds for charity started while former North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano was in the final stages of the cancer battle that eventually took his life. The event has raised more than $4.9 million in its seven years.
Among the items up for bid are dozens of signed full size and mini helmets from the likes of Tom Brady, Clay Matthews, the late Reggie White, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Drew Brees and Robert Griffin III; a signed Derek Jeter batting helmet; signed baseballs from players like Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Nolan Ryan; a signed ‘Pyramid of Success’ from the late coach John Wooden, a Three Rivers Stadium seat back autographed by Jerome Bettis and numerous framed, signed jerseys.
A total of 18 fan “experiences” will also be auctioned live on air across ESPN Radio’s national shows on Wednesday, July 11, beginning at 6 a.m. ET until 12 a.m. ET. Winning bids will be announced once per hour on ESPN Radio’s respective national platforms. For the first time ever, to help drive additional awareness to the ESPN Radio Auction, ESPN Radio hosts Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, and Colin Cowherd will team up for two hours of The Herd (11 a.m. ET – 1 p.m. ET) live from the ESPYS in Los Angeles.
