Not many local or regional sports card shows date to the 1970s but collectors in northern Pennsylvania are well acquainted with a special event that’s making its return this spring.
The Ephrata Recreation Center, located about an hour north of Philadelphia will welcome dealers, collectors and two autograph guests to the 40th annual Ephrata Lions Club Sports Card Show, scheduled for Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Known as one of the largest and longest-running one-day shows in the country, the event is a fundraiser for Lions Club projects.
The 70 dealer tables are sold out.
Former Phillies manager Charlie Manual, who led the team to a World Series title and five National League East titles will appear from 11 AM to 1 PM ($25 per autograph). Brent Celek, a member of the Super Bowl LII winning Eagles will sign from 11:30-1:30 ($30-$40). Only 250 autograph tickets will be sold and only on-site.
A live auction with over 250 items will begin at approximately 2:30.
Show admission is $5 for adults and $1 for kids 12 and under.
Proceeds from the event benefit Ephrata youth sports programs and the Ephrata Recreation Center, in addition to Ephrata youth counseling and support organizations. The event also helps the Lions Club sponsor the 16U Ephrata Lions baseball team. Additional details, including the auction can be found on the Ephrata Lions web site.
