Leaving an expensive vintage hockey card set in his car proved to be a big mistake for a Michigan man.
A Hamburg Township man says his 1951 Parkhurst hockey card collection was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway.
The victim said the cards were in a special wooden box and “worth a considerable amount of money,” according to Livingston Daily. They were taken from his Chrysler Sebring convertible between Friday night and Saturday.
The victim told police he thinks teenagers looking for unlocked vehicles to raid may have been responsible. “Car hopping” is a popular past time among young thieves.
The man said he and his family were running late last Friday night and “unfortunately … left the house rather suddenly, forgetting to lock the cars,” according to police.
