New sellers will soon be required to utilize Paypal or a merchant credit card as part of eBay’s plans to change the way it conducts some parts of it’s business.
"We know that PayPal is the safest way to pay on eBay, and we want to make sure our buyers have this option with new sellers," eBay North America President Bill Cobb wrote in his announcement on the company website. Anyone currently selling on the site will not have to comply with the new requirement.
eBay also plans to test it’s new "Feedback 2.0" program outside the US early this year. Users will rate each other based on description, communication, shipping time, and shipping & handling charges. eBay will also archive all but the last 24 months of users’ feedback history. Members’ total scores will remain, but the percent will be based only on the last two years of activity.
