Seminars, softball tournaments and trivia contests were once a part of the National Sports Collectors Convention. Then came autograph guests. Then live auctions and eventually case and box breaking. Until now, there has never been a blood drive in conjunction with the annual show, though. At least we’re pretty sure of that.
In conjunction with Heartland Blood Centers, the leading provider of donated blood for Chicago area hospitals, attendees at the 38th edition of the show can help save lives by donating inside the Stephens Convention Center—and also get a discount on their general admission ticket. The show takes place July 26-30.
According to NSCC organizers, Heartland opened in 1943 and has grown to be the top provider of blood in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area, supplying blood for 100% of the transfusion needs in the 74 affiliated hospitals.
All donors will receive a National Sports Collectors Convention Blood Donor T-shirt and a coupon which provides a 50% discount on the $22 ticket to the show.
Hours for the blood drive are:
Wednesday, 7/26 4pm to 7pm
Thursday, 7/27 10am to 5pm
Friday, 7/28 10am to 5pm
Saturday, 7/29 10am to 5pm
Sunday, 7/30 10am to 4pm
