Tom “Tonto” Kackley, a long-time minor league clubhouse and equipment manager, is holding his annual auction to benefit a cause that hits close to home.
Kackley, who works for the Yankees’ affiliate in Trenton, New Jersey, is auctioning autographs and game-used memorabilia to benefit the Domestic Violence Project of Canton, OH.
A week before the 1997 season, Kackley’s sister-in-law was murdered in a domestic violence situation. Over the last few years, Kackley has enlisted the help of players on his team, the Yankees and others, to built an auction to raise money for the organization.
This year’s auction ends Wednesday and features items signed by Reggie Jackson, Andy Pettitte, Austin Jackson and others as well as game-used equipment from prospects like Jesus Montero.
Kackley’s auctions have raised several thousand dollars over the past few years.
