His real name is DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf so you understand why he wound up simply as DK. Whatever the moniker, the Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver is making a name for himself.
Metcalf had seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown in last weekend’s wild card game, the most by any rookie in playoff game in the Super Bowl era era. For the 2019 regular season he finished tied for second among rookies in receptions (58), tied for third in receiving touchdowns with seven and ranked third in receiving yards with 900.
Despite imposing physical size and ability, Metcalf lasted until the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the ninth of 28 wide receivers taken over the three days. He certainly looks like a steal with the potential for a long, productive career ahead.
Metcalf’s rookie cards have yet to really explode. To date, none have sold for over $1,000, but some premium brands won’t release until well after the season. The redemption card for his 2019 Contenders Cracked Ice (# to 23) sold Monday for $999, but that’s the biggest sale to date.
