Arizona Diamondbacks Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick has been an avid collector for years, curating a world class collection of some of the hobby’s most valuable cards.
Now, 50 of the best are the subject of an upcoming book.
ATS Communications and Peter E. Randall Publisher will release The Diamondbacks Collection: 50 of the Greatest Cards in Sports Collecting History later this year.
Tom and Ellen Zappala, who have collaborated with PSA for previous card-related coffee table books including those on the T206, Cracker Jack and 1952 Topps sets and one on player bats are authoring this one, too.
In addition to showcasing the cards in a full color presentation, the book will offer a comprehensive narrative about each player’s personal and professional life and an analysis of every card in the collection.
Among the cards in Kendrick’s collection are PSA 10 copies of Mickey Mantle’s 1952 Topps card and 1951 Bowman rookie card. The ’52 Mantle is one of three rated Gem Mint. Kendrick also owns a pair of high-grade Babe Ruth rookies, some of the best copies of most of the hobby’s most popular cards and the controversial T206 Honus Wagner graded 8 by PSA.
The book launch will take place in July 2022 at The National Sports Collector’s Convention in Atlantic City, NJ, but pre-release sales are scheduled to begin in May.
