The NHL’s 2018-19 regular season opens October 4, but some game-worn gear from last season hitting the block through MeiGray Auctions.
The company’s partnership with several NHL teams brought a group of 23 New Jersey Devils helmets to the block on Wednesday. Worn during the 2017-18 regular season and the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs, the listings include those donned by Taylor Hall, Nico Hischier, Kyle Palmieri and others.
The helmets include the special Humboldt Broncos and 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs decals worn from mid-April until the end of the season.
NHL teams wore the Humboldt decals as a show of support following the horrific accident that killed several players on the Saskatchewan-based junior hockey club last spring. Homages to the Broncos were a mainstay from the end of the 2017-18 season through the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Each helmet is registered into the New Jersey Devils-MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. The minimum bid for each is $150. The auction for the helmets and a selection of practice-worn Vegas Golden Knights jerseys is set to run through October 10 at MeiGrayAuctions.com.
