Dr. Wayne Fischer likes being a dentist. He just didn’t want patients to feel like they were in a dentist’s office. A baseball fan and a history buff, 
Fischer used his suburban St. Louis office to show off a collection of baseball memorabilia he had accumulated over the years. Late last week, most of it was gone–or ruined.
A fire broke out in the basement of the old home where the office was located after a 150-gallon oil tank in the basement leaked and caught fire according to Maplewood Fire Chief Terry Merrell.
Crews responded and the flames disappeared but hours later, they re-ignited.
Focused on the Cardinals, the collection included a Babe Ruth autograph, dozens of signed baseballs and more.
