A kid from New York spent part of his youth sending letters to ballplayers asking them to sign his baseball cards. He’s now 27…and just gone one back in the mail.
You have to give Kevin Appier and the Kansas City Royals a little credit, at least.
They could have tossed out that big box of fan mail at some point. Somehow, the box–dating from the 1990s–did wind up being opened by the former pitcher, now living on a ranch.
Inside was one TTM autograph request, long forgotten by the young boy who had sent it in 1992. Yes, he’d moved away from the house on the self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Fortunately, according to the New York Post, someone still lived there. It’s another one of those "you never know" stories from the world of fan mail.
