It takes a couple of elves in the Anaheim Mighty Ducks front office to make sure those autograph requests are kept separate from those…um…other requests.
It comes from all over the world.
A lot of it from kids, but adults do most of the writing.
Fan letters, gifts and autograph requests pile up inside the offices of the NHL’s Mighty Ducks.
Maureen Nyeholt, executive assistant of Ducks general manager Bob Murray, and Christina Morrow, an administrative assistant in hockey operations, sort through Ducks fan mail every week.
While most NHL teams don’t get nearly the fan mail of their MLB, NBA and NFL counterparts, it still takes awhile to sort through. That’s because along with the usual through the mail autograph requests that contain hockey cards or photographs come plenty of other things, including photos of women who prefer more than an autograph.
At least Orange County Register columnist Marcia Smith discovered that the worthwhile stuff does get to the players’ mailboxes.
