Another hobby shop has been burglarized to the tune of a five-figure loss–this time during broad daylight.
Surveillance video shows two people using a pry bar to break into Dad’s Dugout in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood, TN just before 7 PM on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
The video included audio and one suspect can be heard said to the other, “I got this side.” They then began filling backpacks with graded and ungraded cards from the store’s display cases.
The store’s owner told police that 228 cards worth over $40,000, including an Ernie Banks rookie card, an autographed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar card and other pricey cards of Tom Brady and Caitlin Clark were among those scooped up before the burglars escaped. They left signed memorabilia and even the store’s cash register untouched.
“They each know exactly where they’re going, what they’re going for. They took off when they started hearing the alarm system go,” Brentwood Police Detective Adrian Breedlove told WKRN-TV. The video shows the two people getting into a white car after leaving the store.
Located in a strip mall, Dad’s Dugout opened 2 1/2 years ago.
