The National Sports Collectors Convention doesn’t really have a ‘sanctioned’ auction. Aligning itself with one particular auction company or another might alienate the others. However, that didn’t stop the annual big ticket auctions from taking place after show hours.
Among the top selling items was a PSA 8.5 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth which brought nearly $86,000, and a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle graded PSA 8, which sold for over $71,000.
The 1952 Topps Andy Pafko (#1) continues to be one of the hobby’s most sought after vintage cards, especially in high grade. Few examples survive in near mint or better shape. Legendary offered a PSA 8 version in its event and it brought over $53,000.
