The eighth installment of the hobby’s greatest collection of T206 cards is set to open next week.
Heritage Auctions will be offering over 400 additional cards from the massive stockpile owned by former PSA founder David Hall in an auction that will run for three weeks beginning March 24.
The ongoing series of sales featuring cards from Hall’s ten-year quest to collect not just the T206 set, but every variation and oddity he could locate. It was the most comprehensive T206 collection ever assembled and it has taken multiple auctions to fairly distribute the 5,000+ cards to other avid collectors.
Among the cards that will be offered in the upcoming sale is a T206 Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder PSA 8 that’s expected to sell for over $100,000.
Cards of several other Hall of Famers are sprinkled throughout the catalog. There’s a Cobb Red Portrait Sweet Caporal graded PSA 4, a T206 Cobb Green Portrait graded PSA 2 and a an El Principe De Gales Christy Mathewson rated PSA 7 with a population of 1 and none higher.
Hall’s dedication to acquiring T206s with rare advertising backs was second to none and the auction will roll out even more of those, including Broad Leaf, Uzit, Cycle, Carolina Brights, American Beauty and Old Mill. Numerous cards are among just a small number of examples ever graded.
Bidding will run through April 14 on the Heritage website. A preview is available now.
