Dan Imler has joined Heritage Auctions as he will be helping to lead the company’s Sports Collectibles division as the Vice President of Private Sales and Consignments. The move was announced by the company in a press release earlier today.
Imler joins Heritage after most recently working with SCP Auctions, serving there as a vice president since 2000. Sports Collectors Daily recently mentioned that Imler planned to create a new company, Legacy Sports Collections.
“I will continue to run Legacy although on a more limited basis initially as I get integrated with Heritage,” Imler told SC Daily via email. “One of the reasons I ultimately accepted this position is HA’s interest in making client services and collection management a higher priority with many initiatives that are in line with my vision for Legacy.”
Imler brings a strong record with decades of experience in the sports memorabilia and auction industries. He has served as a hobby expert for numerous prestigious major media companies, including CNN, ESPN, The New York Times, and Forbes magazine.
“Dan is one of the most respected and knowledgeable figures in sports collecting,” said Chris Ivy, Director of Heritage Sports. “He will bring strong leadership to our West Coast operations and will keep regular office hours in both our Los Angeles and San Francisco locations.” Heritage Auctions is one of the premier auction houses for sports cards, sports memorabilia, and fine art.
Imler also commented on the move himself.
“I am thrilled to join the hobby’s leading auction house,” Imler said. “This is an incredible opportunity to work with the best team in the business. Heritage has long set the standard for delivering the best results and overall customer service in our industry, and I look forward to helping continue that tradition.”
