No more “home whites” or single-color road jerseys. Game-worn collectors are seeing lots of variety in the uniforms of pro sports teams and the NBA is no exception.
The new ‘Statement’ jerseys are blending some of the history of decades ago with new designs and color combinations. The alternate jerseys are being worn as part of the league’s new partnership with Nike.
The NBA Auctions Item of the week is one such jersey—donned by one of the league’s top players in a game earlier this season. Damian Lillard’s red Portland Trail Blazers shirt will conjure up some memories of the early 70s Blazer squads with a modern touch. It was worn during a 103-91 home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks back on November 30. Lillard played 39 minutes that night, registering 18 points with a game-high 7 assists and 7 rebounds.
So far this season, Lillard is averaging over 25 points per game along with 6.3 assists and nearly five rebounds per game.
The Size 46 jersey includes four inches extra length and as always, is registered into the NBA and MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program as number PORW00479. “11/30 vs. Bucks” is handwritten on the jock tag.
The current bid is just shy of $2,000 with the auction continuing through January 11 at Auctions.NBA.com.
